Until now we only knew that plastic waste is only creating an environmental fuss, nothing else. Today, it has become an inseparable part of modern civilization and thus, heaps of plastic is appearing everywhere. If those are not recycled properly, those can only end up in creating huge pollution. But scientists have discovered the way to convert plastic waste in diesel. This reason of litter can become another way to meet the need of fuel too. Moreover, it can not only convert to diesel only but experts are saying that natural gas and different kinds of petroleum products also can be produced from it. Even some amount of electricity can be produced from plastic waste as per the experts.
Waste plastic to diesel is possible and that has not only solved the issue of plastic waste and environmental pollution but also has taken care of the increasing value of diesel.
The Journey of Plastic Waste to Diesel
Plastics are considered as the blight of modern civilization. They won’t degrade; they won’t decompose; they are harmful to marine life; they choke livestock; they clog drains and waterbodies. It will always be better to find out ways to recycle plastic and make new use of it. The process is very simple it is similar to how alcohol is made. If plastic waste is heated in oxygen free place, it will tend to melt plastic but prevent from burning. Once melted, boiled & evaporated just put the vapors through a cooling pipe. When cooled the vapors will condense to a liquid. The steps include -

The steps include -
- Thermochemical Depolymerization; it means breaking down the plastic particles at the temperature of 350 to 500 degree Celsius.
- There won’t be any oxygen during the process so that liquid fuel can be accumulated.
- During the process, certain gases are created, but as those are reused, they won’t pollute the air or anything in the environment. These gases are reused for further heating.
- There is also certain solid discharge during the process, like carbon black. These are also reused in different ways, like building hollow blocks.
- So, the method of transforming plastic waste into diesel is an environment-friendly way to recycle it. No discharge causes any hamper to the environment and the entire products and the by-products are used and reused to create the fuel.
Thus, plastic waste is solving the issue of increasing fuel cost along with the environmental pollution. It is all about awareness, recycling can be done, but that should never encourage the use of plastics anymore. Be aware, limit the use of plastic and try not to leave it untreated especially around waterbodies.
